Temple of Apollo at Eretria, West Pediment

The west pediment of the archaic temple of Apollo was carved between 520-500 BCE. The temple was destroyed by the Persians in 490 BCE as reprisal for the Eretrian involvenent in the Ionian revolution.

It is attributed to the Athenian sculptor Antinor and it was vividly decorated with colored patterns. It is about 17.50 meters long and 2.20 meters wide.
